The upcoming Florida elections in November feature an amendment which will bring a costly inefficiency to the way our state handles land use changes.  The proposal, which is commonly referred to as Amendment 4, in a nutshell requires land use changes to be put on a ballot and voted on. 

Our cities and counties have existing processes for dealing with land use changes through building, planning and zoning departments within those government entities.  We, the people, should expect the individuals in these roles to perform their jobs, and if they are not, we, the people, should see that they are removed from those roles.  To put every single land use change on a ballot will be costly and create potential delays in projects that could bring jobs and tourism to our communities.  To learn more about Amendment 4, click here.
