We have heard this phrase since we were children from the friendly "Smokey the Bear".  Yet every year, we hear of fires ranging somewhere in our wonderful country, more times than not, sparked by sparks gone astray. 

This year the fires are abundant throughout Florida.  Yes, Florida.  The land of 15 minute downpours that we call "liquid sunshine".  But this year, we have not had the plentiful rainfall that we typically enjoy.  In addition, we have had 2 years of above average cold periods, resulting in a lot of dead underbrush that fuels a stray spark like gasoline.

Be careful out there, especially with the 4th of July celebrations upcoming.  One stray spark in fun - whether it be from a barbeque pit, or a sparkler, can trigger a fire that quickly gets out of control.  Our firefighters are working tirelessly to stop and gain control of fires that have been raging for weeks.  Let's not give them more work.
