Real Estate in Northeast Florida and Around the World

As much as I stay connected to what is happening in our real estate market, I have to scratch my head from time to time.  Demand seems to come in surges....I may go days or sometimes a week before I speak with a buyer about purchasing a new home, and then I will have several new buyers in a row want interested in buying a house. 

Because this business facinates me so much, I began to pay attention to the ebbs and tides.  Activity lessens through the holidays (no surprises I'm sure), and in Florida, our business usually picks up after the first week of January and runs strong through Easter.  (I learned not to plan vacation in this time of year).  The really interesting thing was June and July.  One would think that with school out, this is when people would really want to buy and sell property.  Nope.  They go on vacation.  People want to live their lives like they always do, and take a vacation.  Every July I hear other agents comment "I just don't understand where the customers are, I was so busy and now I'm not", etc.   I know where they are.  They are at the beach, or a cruise, or crossing the USA, or on a European vacation.....anywhere but worrying about a house.  Not a priority. 

So, I am gearing up for the return of the buyers and sellers to the market as we approach the end of July.   And in the next day or so, I'll have my commentary about the market conditions from June-yes, that data is out and I am slow getting caught up from my vacation.
