Real Estate in Northeast Florida and Around the World

Many people who do not live or who have not spent time in Northeast Florida, do not understand why we love it here.  Most people from outside of the area immediately think of Miami or other parts of South Florida as a second home or retirement destination in Florida. So, I thought I would begin a list of reasons to educate those from outside of our area on "Why Northeast Florida". 

We're more affordable:  Using the website "bestplaces.net", I compared Miami, Orlando, Fort Myers, Fort Lauderdale and Tampa to the Jacksonville Market.  Here are the results:

• Miami is 14% more expensive overall, with housing being 47% more expensive than housing in the Jacksonville area
• Tampa is the closest in costs to our area, being only 4% more expensive than here, but with utilities being 27% higher than in Northeast Florida.  Housing is 8% higher than here.
• Orlando is 12% more expensive overall, with housing being 43% more expensive than here
• Fort Lauderdale is the big loser in this test as it is 34% more expensive overall, with housing being 134% higher than housing in Jacksonville
